Easter 2010 Update

Tuesday, 27 April 2010

What more could be done than thou hast done!
Thy death is my life,
Thy resurrection my peace,
Thy ascension my hope,
Thy prayers my comfort.

Greetings in the name of our victorious, risen savior!

Today Robert is leaving on a one-week road trip. I’ve been promising to write the prayer update for the past few days but not following through until this morning he said, “I don’t want to go unless I know people are praying for me.” It hit me once again how vital your ministry of prayer is to us. Please do pray this week – enter the battle on behalf of the church of Christ that the Living King will be glorified. Praise him with us for opportunities to serve which bring both joys and struggles.

The upcoming trip will include a refresher/introductory church planting course for pastors from 12 new churches. Pray especially for the section, “How Do We Change?” taught by one of the Kenyan mentors that the Spirit will bring real heart change and true fellowship among the brothers. Include in your prayers travel safety and a smooth-running car. While in Western Kenya, Robert will spend a few days visiting a few pastors at their homes and ministries. Pray with me for them to share a vision of Christ’s reign and powerful work in our day.

Last week Robert, Andrew, Kyle (his schoolmate) and I combined ministry and rest as we traveled to Nakuru town. Robert gave a charge from I Timothy to the three graduates of Grace Bible College and former graduates whom he taught, who are now planting churches. Pray for these men to be humble, faithful leaders.

During our visit to Nakuru my guys helped me to weigh, measure heights and de-worm several hundred young students at Imani School in Kaptembua Slum and at the Pipeline Group IDP camp. Pray for the families in the camp as they continue to build their lives that they will know our Heavenly Father and that our service to them will help show the way to Him.

Recently we had to let go of our house worker of 13 years. This was a major disappointment and change for our family since he has been a part of our daily lives. Pray for the gospel to be at work in Joseph’s heart, and that we will find comfort and a replacement from the Lord.

Celebrating Easter with Christine & James

Celebrating Easter with Christine & James

This week we have Christine and James, our special young Ugandan friends with us during their break from school. Ask the Lord to show his love through us as we teach life skills, disciple them in the faith and temporarily replace the parents they do not have.

Last month we were able to help 2 girls, whom I met in Mwingi area last year to travel many hours to a children’s hospital for treatment. The younger had surgery to correct club feet and the older was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Both need follow up therapy which I’m trying to arrange. Pray for them and their mothers to know the Lord of mercy.

Pray for Robert, Andrew and I to have soft, loving, teachable hearts, and to do courageous, diligent good works by faith.

Thank you, once again, for lifting in prayer these needs which we put before you.
