Church Planting Project Needs

Vision
We are dedicated to seeing the Africa Evangelical Presbyterian Church (AEPC) plant healthy, reproducing churches led by gospel-centered national leaders and involved in holistic and cross-cultural ministries.

Mission
Prayerfully depending on the Holy Spirit, we accomplish this through the training of church planters, personal mentoring key leaders, and engaging in mercy ministry.
We believe that church planting is the most effective means of evangelism. By establishing communities of believers, we conserve the fruits of evangelism and train more evangelists. It is in this community of believers that faith grows and gifts are discovered to continue reaping a harvest for Christ’s kingdom. Instead of planting churches ourselves as western missionaries, we equip Africans to plant churches among their own people, using their language and culture. This is Robert’s main focus and he does it through seminars and personal mentoring of leaders.

Equipment for Church Planters
The following is the equipment that we need to help church planters in Kenya. See list below for specific details. Download PDF version of the complete supplies list KenyanSupplies.PDF (448k)

Sound/Music Equipment:Josiah-BandSound systems and even Western instruments are increasingly becoming an expected part of African churches. These items serve to attract unbelievers into the church where they can hear the Gospel.

Construction Tools:Putting finishing touches on the church steepleFor building sanctuaries (Raise the Roof for Jesus Projects) and technical training schools. One of the log-jams we have been having in church planting in Kenya is the time and expense for building sanctuaries. One thing that is helping us achieve this goal is the formation of the AEPC building team. This team is made up of AEPC pastors, some of who are also carpenters or masons. They help congregations get to the point of making their own bricks, providing local material like sand and stones and then building their own foundation and walling. When they are ready, this team prefabricates metal trusses and procures metal sheeting for the roof. We then try to come in with a team from the U.S. and install the roof within ten days. These tools will help this team to expand this work. In addition to this, some of the members would like to begin a technical training center in the rural area and students who are learning the building trade while helping us builds churches could use these tools.

Kianga Kids Project Needs

Vision
To Multiply the Hope of the Gospel in AEPC churches & surrounding communities in the slums of Nairobi & rural Kenya by developing holistic, kingdom focused, & sustainable community health programs so that the churches will grow & be spiritually strengthened.

Mission
Lois with kidsBecause we want to preach the Gospel in both word and deed, caring for the medical needs of children is a vital part of our vision. We do this in the context of nursery schools that are run by new church plants. These nursery schools are a means of outreach in the community where the church is being planted. Our focus has been on helping with the medical needs of children in the slums and poor rural areas. By examining the children and monitoring their growth rates and assisting them with proper nutrition, Lois is able to both prevent sickness and help in the process of diagnosing any medical problems. Lois is a Licensed Practical Nurse and leads this ministry with the help of many volunteers and interns from the U.S.
