Christmas Season in Kenya

Wednesday, 24 December 2008

Is it the Christmas season? Most of the prompts we are used to in the U.S. are not here- lots of Christmas music, cold weather, snow, homes decorated with lights and the like. But, unfortunately, Christmas is becoming more commercial…

Dear Friends,

Special Prayer: New City Fellowship

Saturday, 15 November 2008

Dear Friends,
One small but very important prayer request:
We are being attached by the Evil One in an unprecedented way at New City Fellowship- the church that focuses on reaching Asians and racial reconciliation between Asians and Africans. I cannot go into all the details but please pray as we deal with some very difficult [...]

Greetings from the Land of Obama-mania!

Tuesday, 11 November 2008

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Kenya where “Obamamania” has struck! Obama is on the lips of almost everyone in the streets and yesterday was declared a public holiday all over the country! Obama’s relatives have been seen on the local news beside themselves with glee. Some say the new president of the U.S.A. will [...]

The Carr Family

Dear Friends,

Give praise to the Father with us for his hand of protection this past month during the visiting building team’s work in Nzaini. The week following Robert’s fall from the ladder, the same team was travelling through a rural area and for unknown reasons one car went out of control and flipped several times. None of the five passengers were seriously injured…

Short-term team from Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church

Thank you for praying for our “Raise the Roof for Jesus” church building team. This was made possible by the generous donation of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC- by sending a great team of volunteers from their church and also helping with the material expenses for the roof. It was certainly eventful and exciting and we believe there will be many lasting fruits for the Kingdom of God.

Becky’s Wedding and Prayer Requests

Monday, 28 July 2008

< em>The Carr Family at Becky’s wedding

Thank you so much for your prayers concerning our daughter Becky’s wedding on 19th July. We feel it was such a success! The location was beautiful, the weather was very hot but better than rain since it was an outdoor ceremony and then we had the shelter of a beautiful historical house with a.c. and fans for relief. The wedding ceremony and reception were both at one location- an old historic mansion called The Highlands on the outskirts of Philly.

Update for July

Last week I took our two summer interns, Becca and Adriel, to Nakuru to the showgrounds where I had previously worked with MAP International’s medical clinics at the Internally Displaced Peoples Camp in the aftermath of the post-election tribal violence.

Elijah Gets a Wheelchair

Sunday, 20 July 2008

During a visit to Nakuru and the IDP camps in April, I met a young man named Elijah. He was one of several disabled to whose tents God led us. His mother, though burdened with caring for the special needs of her son in a refugee camp, she was not afraid to welcome other needy children into her tent. One of those she took in was a girl of about 12 years whose mother had been killed in the skirmishes in January. Her father sat her down and told her to wait for him but he never returned…
